A useful meeting filter
- Attend: your decision or expertise is needed live.
- Shorten: the purpose is valid but 25 minutes would do.
- Replace: an update can be read asynchronously.
- Decline: there is no agenda, decision or clear role for you.
Protect the work after the meeting
Block focus time as deliberately as meetings. When a new meeting displaces committed work, ask which deadline should move. That turns a personal time problem into a visible prioritization decision.
A calm way to raise it
“I had 14 hours of meetings last week, which pushed the project work into evenings. Could we review which sessions need me live and protect two focus blocks each week?”
